Employer forcing me to resign after maternity leave in Bangalore?

I'm based in Bangalore and just returned to work after my maternity leave. My employer has started using pressure tactics to make me resign, suggesting my role is redundant now. I feel this is unfair and discriminatory. Is it legal for them to do this under Indian employment law? What steps can I take to protect my job?
