Employer not paying salary for last 3 months, how can I recover my dues?

I work for a small IT firm in Bangalore and haven’t received my salary for the past three months. My manager keeps promising payment, but nothing happens. I am in a financial crisis now. I haven’t given up my job yet as I fear losing my pending salary. What legal steps can I take? Is there a way to ensure I get paid?
