Can my boss fire me for refusing to work overtime every day?

I work as a software developer in Bangalore. My boss has been asking me to work overtime almost every day, staying late until 9 or 10 PM. I refused citing personal reasons and now he has threatened to terminate me. Is this legal? I joined the company 6 months ago, and my contract does not mention any mandatory overtime. What are my rights in this situation?
