Employer terminated me without notice after 5 years in Bengaluru?

I have been working with a tech company in Bengaluru for 5 years and was suddenly terminated without any notice two weeks ago. They claimed performance issues but never gave me any warnings or chance to improve. I am devastated as I have no other source of income. Is this legal? What steps can I take to contest this? Can I file a complaint with the Labor Commissioner?
