Can a landlord lock me out for late rent payment in Pune?

My landlord in Pune has locked me out of my rented apartment because I was late by 10 days for this month’s rent due to a temporary financial crunch. This is causing me immense stress and I don't know what to do. I have tried explaining my situation but he refuses to listen and demands full payment immediately. Is this legal under Maharashtra's tenancy laws? What legal actions can I take to regain access to my home?
